CCBT20 High speed consumer cable tester
- Series: High speed communication tester - Brand: Te-lead
The CCBT is a high-speed consumer cable tester capable of measuring eye performance from 2 Gbps to 29 Gbps. It supports USB4 GEN2/3, DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and lower version buses. Users can select eye masks for USB4 GEN2/3 TP3, UHBR20_DPTx-TP3, and HDMI 2.1 FRL_12 TP2. The CCBT is suitable for both passive and active copper cables, as well as Active Optical Cables (AOC). It also monitors power consumption in active mode. Eye scanning is completed within 5 seconds through parallel measurement.
Key features
· Eye Measurement Function: Includes eye height, eye width, mask margin, etc.
· Built-in Eye Masks: Supports various standards, Custom Eye Masks.
· Parallel Measurement: Capable of measuring 1 to 8 lanes simultaneously.
· Individual Lane Configuration: Each lane has separate Tx FIR and Rx CTLE + DFE, allowing users to select different standard presets and CTLE settings in the GUI.
· High Data Rate support: Testing can be done in the 2 Gbps - 29 Gbps range for both passive and active cables.
· Custom Data Patterns: Internal CDR allows eye opening measurement
for any data pattern.
· Quick Testing: Interchangeable test adapters eliminates the need for RF cables.
· Low-Speed Signal Testing: Supports continuity testing for low-speed signals and BER testing @ 480Mbps on the USB 2.0 lane.
· Insertion Loss Measurement: Single frequency IL (@X GHz) measurement for passive and LDR cables.
· Power Monitoring: Monitors power consumption and quiescent currents for active copper cables and AOC.
· Flexible Test Sequences: User-configurable test sequences may include any
of the tests at various data rates
Application
· Testing Various Cable Types: Type C, HDMI, DP, USB, and Thunderbolt passive and active high-speed consumer cables.
· QSFP28/SFP28 Testing: Includes Direct Attach Copper (DAC), Active Copper Cable (ACC), and Active Optical Cable (AOC) tests.
· PCIe Production Testing: Supports PCIe 3.0, 4.0, SlimSAS, Occulink, and Slimline passive cable production testing.
· Rapid Eye Scanning: Fast eye scan testing for USB, DisplayPort, and HDMI hosts.
· High-Speed Backplane Testing: Efficient testing for high-speed backplanes.
· Analog Component Testing: Fast eye scan tests for high-speed analog components (e.g., RF drivers and TIAs).
Low-rate copper cable test
Although the CCBT is a high-speed cable tester, it not only characterizes high-speed lanes but also verifies low-rate lanes. The continuity function is designed specifically for low-rate lanes. The lanes tested are listed below:
Type C | HDMI | DP |
SBU1 | CEC | CONFIG1 |
SBU2 | HPD | CONFIG2 |
SCL | AUX_CHP | |
SDA | AUX_CHN | |
eARC | HPD |

Power monitor
The power monitoring function is a valuable feature of this cable tester. Users can input power consumption specifications based on different standards to determine whether the cable passes or fails. Meanwhile, the GUI displays detailed information on voltage and current status.
Eye scan measurement
The eye scan is a key feature of the CCBT. Eye opening can be measured for any data pattern. Users can select from standard masks or define custom masks within the built-in GUI. The GUI displays key eye parameters, including eye height, eye width, and jitter. Mask-related production criteria can be used with both standard and custom masks.
With a built-in CDR, eye opening can be measured for any pattern. It uses different eye masks to calculate the mask margin for the product
High speed lane cross check
CCBT has HS cross check function which is easy to detect passive or active cable lane cross issue.
Signal process capability
Tx & Rx Equalizer: The CCBT high-speed cable tester allows for standard and custom Rx and Tx equalization settings, to meet the requirements of various bus standards. For example, it offers 15 presets for USB4 Tx with CTLE ranging from 0 to -9 dB. The CCBT has calibrated the eye diagram using a high-bandwidth real-time oscilloscope with different equalizations, demonstrating strong correlation with the oscilloscope's eye diagram.
Insertion Loss: The tester can assess the insertion loss of passive cables or LDR cables at specific frequencies for each lane.
Production test sequence
The GUI features multiple test modules (such as continuity, power monitoring, eye scan, etc.). Users can select the desired test modules and define the test parameters to create a setup for a specific type of cable, as illustrated in the photo labeled "test-10G." Different products will have unique test sequences based on the specified setup name.
